Two Tails Up?
Have you seen those spaceshipy modern looking side tables that have a little fishbowl porthole for your cat to sit in? Pictures of cats sitting in the bowl garner more likes than…well, cats that aren’t sitting in a clear bowl because #catsareliquid. You can see their adorable little toe-beans, and you can see them in all their liquid glory. I had dreams of creating my own videos and pictures of “The Boys” being adorable in the side table, but alas, when the table arrived in the mail it was not to be.
Have you ever bought something totally ignoring the reviews about how bad it is because you really want it to work out, and of course we all know it’s just the whiners that leave all those negative reviews. That was me. I thought there was no way it could be that bad. At over $100 (with taxes) it’s not exactly cheap after all. It looks absolutely adorable in the product advertisement, and there are a fair amount of good reviews. Not to mention that you can use it as a planter, knitting basket, party cooler, candy dish, and it’s a table! Who wouldn’t want this thing?
Zeus being a handsome boy.
In my case I was thoroughly disappointed from the moment I opened the box. I didn’t even bother putting the table together. Although, Zeus gifted me with a sweet-faced picture, isn’t he just the most adorable? Sorry, that face is so distracting, back to the table, the quality is about as bad as it gets. The paint was chipping off the surface, there were tiny cracks in the clear bowl, and the assembly of the bowl used screws that were not set flush. If the it cost half the price I might have kept it just because of the inconvenience of having to return it in-store. I bought mine online from one of the big brick and mortar stores and they did not offer free returns by mail.

I should probably say something nice, right? The one good thing about the table is the size. I was a little concerned that it would be too small, but take a look at Zeus sitting next to the table top. It’s a fair size. Had the quality been better I imagine that it would have at least made a cute-silly egg looking side table that might occasionally work as a cat trap.
Sadly, this one is a solid TWO TAILS DOWN.
If you decide to be like me and give it a try even though I am warning you about the low quality, do yourself a favor and get it from a store like Amazon and make sure you it qualifies for free returns. You might get lucky and get a table that isn’t basically trash. If it works out for you let me know. I have a table design floating around in my head and I might just DIY it. Send me a note if that sounds interesting to you and you want instructions.
